This is a pattern that rarely shows up for sale. Joy notes that this might have been a Warwick pattern, and we can confirm from pieces we own that it was made by Warwick as well as Sterling China, most likely during the transition over from Scammell China.

We have searched and searched for where this pattern was used and have had two theories, that it was ordered by the Down Under Cafe that opened in 1946 in Rockefeller Center in New York City; or that it was ordered by the Hotel Pick-Melbourne in St. Louis, Missouri, for use in its Kangaroom Coffee Shop. We are leaning toward use at the Pick-Melbourne. Albert Pick Hotels had a history of choosing cute mascots for its coffee shops, namely the Purple Cow Coffee Shops; and there was a member of a St. Louis Facebook group who thought he remembered seeing the china in use at the Pick-Melbourne.

Warwick would have been the first supplier, followed by Carr when it acquired Warwick's patterns, and when Carr went out of business, subsequent orders went to Sterling.
