Seaside House was built before 1888 in Atlantic City, N.J., and with its plain green decoration was probably one of Carr's earlier topmarked pieces. Based on the L. Barth & Son backstamp, the platter was probably made at least before 1926 because that's the year Barth merged with Albert Pick & Co.
According to an ad in the April 1904 issue of The Suburbanite, shown below, Seaside House was operated by F. P. Cook & Son (as shown on the platter's topmark). It was open throughout the year.
