From the Morning Call website, the Morning Call Coffee Stand in New Orleans, the "most famous coffee drinking place, has been serving café au lait and beignets to generations of locals and visitors since 1870. Founded by Joseph Jurisich and operated by succeeding generations, this venerable establishment is best described as “one of the world’s great coffee houses” and recognized nationwide in numerous publications and periodicals."

The coffee shop opened in a different spot on Decatur Street in the French Quarter and moved to Jefferson Parish in 1974.
