The Gamma Phi Beta sorority was founded Nov. 11, 1874, at Syracuse University.

The colors of this plate – dark brown on a Glo-Tan body – don't seem particularly appropriate for a 19th century women's group, but it's interesting to note that one of their colors, brown, honors the group's early mentor at Syracuse University, Dr. John J.
