This sugar bowl has a life preserver with rope surrounding the intertwined CBCR monogram that stands for Banana Company of Costa Rica, or Bananera de Costa Rica Cia. It is listed in Larry Paul’s “From Earth to Art: History of the Lamberton Works” as a listed customer that operated United Fruit Company’s railroad in Costa Rica. (Scammell’s Trenton China has also seen as a backstamp on this pattern.)
The bowl is in excellent condition, showing only a little wear/discoloration on the shoulder as shown in the photos. Sadly, I bought it with a mismatching lid because I didn’t want such a nice piece of history behind. The lid is kind of charming with it in a shabby chic way but should not be mistaken as actually any kind of a match!
The bowl is about 4 3/8” wide by 2 ½” high, not including the lid.
