Atlantic Coast Line Railroad Carolina Pattern Salad Plate

These handsome plates made by Sterling China in 1950 are stamped on the back for the Atlantic Coast Line, and are of course the easily identified Carolina pattern. It is not the most arresting pattern, perhaps, but even here in North Carolina where the ACL crisscrossed the state, it's not that easy to find an example of Carolina, especially in this condition.

This is the pattern that was used by the line from 1940 into the Sixties.

I have two plates for sale individually. One has a dot of gray glaze on the front – shown in the photos – and very light use marks. The other plate has a small (~ ¼”) circular glaze miss on the front that is hard to find. It also has very light use/stacking marks.

If you purchase just one plate, either let me know which you’d prefer, or I’ll probably send the one with the glaze miss as to me that is slightly preferable.

Both are excellent examples of this pattern.
