I have found several sizes of bowls, both clear and green, with these convex, or rounded ribs. In fact, I have a large one listed right now. But I’ve never found out a thing about them – no idea of pattern name or lid manufacturer.
Because of these lovely ribs that always seem to me to be made of a higher quality of glass, and because of the elegant rounded knobs, I always think these bowls were used in soda fountains or ice cream parlors, likely holding crushed fruit.
These bowls are also appreciably heavier than other clear bowls with the same dimensions. This one is approximately 4 5/8" in diameter by 2 3/4" high, not including the knob.
There are no cracks on chips on the glass, but as the photos show, there are many all over rub marks on the side of the glass, where it would have jostled against other pieces on a soda fountain's back bar or tables. The lid seems to have so plating loss, close to the hinges. Price is reduced commensurate with this extra bit of wear, though it's still a beauty!
